  I purchased a used refrigerator from Rusty Norval of Norval Schwalm Appliance, in El Dorado Springs, MO. They said it worked perfectly. They delivered it to my home. After plugging it in and waiting hours it just kept running and running. (compressor) So I looked for a way to adjust the freezer and discovered that the adjustment knob was spinning free, not adjusting anything! I called and told them so, and they sent out their repairman, name unknown because they found out I was writing this review and would not tell me his name. The repairman remarked that "someone" had used too much force on the adjustment knob and broken it, intimating that it had not been broken when delivered. They never addressed the issue of the compressor continuously running, and kept saying I should let it set for 24 hours, then plug it in and let it run for another 24 hours. I've used and moved fridges around for the better part of 60 years, and never had to do that unless some fool had hauled it laying on it's side! I called again the next day and got the same runaround. I felt the fridge did not operate properly, and Rusty insisted that it did. At this point Rusty offered to give my money back, minus a retroactive "delivery charge" of $30 plus another $30 to haul it off. I refused, and told him I didn't want to argue about it and that I would keep the fridge and just "eat" the $243 I had paid for it. He said he couldn't allow that and just kept arguing about it. I asked him to leave my property and he refused. My wife called the police, and he finally left. I had to call his appliance store trying to get the name of the repairman that came to my house, but they refused to give it to me. They then asked me what I needed it for. I answered that it was for a review I was writing. He asked me, "what kind of review" and I answered that it would be a rating of my experience with him, his appliance company (Norval-Schwalm), and his repairman. He suddenly said, "okay, I will give your money back, take back the fridge without further charge, and we can just forget it." He did just so, but he had made a statement previously that made it imperative that I still turn in a review. He had said, while stubbornly maintaining that the fridge "worked perfectly," that if he took it back he would simply put it back on his showroom floor and sell it to someone else! So buyer beware, do not buy a used fridge from Norval-Schwalm and Rusty Norval. It could be the same one I returned and it will eat you up in electricity costs because the compressor never shuts off. If Rusty had offered, from the beginning, to take it back in trade for another fridge, I would have gladly agreed, but he just wanted to argue

  Owners Rusty and Jill Norval are fantastic to work with. They carry an amazing variety of furniture and appliances. Plus letterman jackets and more! Most stores this size are in larger cities. No need to drive when you get it right at home. They're also members of the chamber of Commerce and support our community. Great store, good people.
